George Dotty Lake fishing for bass

Bass fishing can be simple with just a worm on the end of the line. You can take about any pole, a bobber and different baits out on the lake and have a pretty good chance of catching small mouth bass. If you want more of a game, you can go after large mouth and try different methods for catching sneaky bass.

Like other fish, bass will look for shelter to hide in and then they’ll sneak out to feed. Fish along any changes in the bottom. In a manmade lake, even try fishing by small…

Anglingman Tight Lines 04-04-09 || Fishing for Carp and Struck into a Monster 78lb Fish

FANCY a paddle? That’s just what Southport angler Steve Halsall hooked into when he visited Nivvas Club Lake on a trip to Austria.

Steve was fishing sweetcorn on 7lb line and a no8 hook for carp wen he struck into a monster 78lb fish.

These fish are not seen in England and with his skill, Steve managed to land a very unusual specimen.

It is called a paddlefish due to its unusually shaped nose, a great achievement on only 7lb line.

The fish was safely… Continue

Geoff Palmer Fishing Loch Orchill, Near Auchtarader, 22 Mar

When I met up with two fellow members of the maggotdrowning website, Arkwright and Paul (MrV), just after New Year Paul mentioned about meeting up one day at Loch Orchill, which is very close to Gleneagles Golf Course, north of Stirling. He gave me a call last night and we agreed to meet up today for a dabble.

I left home at 6.45 and arrived at the fishery not long after 7.30. Paul turned up about 10 minutes later and we paid for our tickets (£7.00), acquired some groundbait and had… Continue

Geraldine Centre Of Excellence

Killeshandra County Cavan Ireland has been selected by Fáilte Ireland [Irish Tourist Board] to be one of a few ANGLING AMBASSADOR towns in the country. This is good news for Killeshandra and means that Killeshandra will be branded as a ‘centre of excellence’ for angling. This is great news and I am looking forward to see what plans are for the area and how it is going to be developed. Are you planning a fishing holiday to Ireland, why not give… Continue

Anglingman Tight Lines 03-15-09 || How Fishing For Carp Can Get You Killed!

This sounds too funny to be true, but you are about to see a hundred fish jump into a boat. The first video is from a Brazilian fishing show where a genius among fishermen, shows how fishing for carp can get you killed. For quite a while fishermen thought these kooky fish jumping into their boats from time to time was a fluke. A fluke known as “flying fish.”

That is until one day this brain donor figured out why it was happening. The carp were leaping out of the water to eat low… Continue

Tony Carp Feeding

Hi, today is Wed,11thy Feb. Feeding the carp on crushed corn, no signs yet of any movement in the lake. The carp in the moat are taking bread off the top so water temp is slowly going up. Major winds last night (not the curry sort ) and lost two trees in the back garden. Still once cut up it`s logs for next winter.

Anglingman Tight Lines 02-07-09 || Blinham's Pike Tops the Charts at Bathampton

Many anglers consider the Bathampton AA-controlled stretches of the Kennett & Avon at Bath, Bathampton, and Claverton to be the best canal fishing in the country, regardless of weather conditions. January and February have always been the worst months on the angler's calendar. Yet already, despite the continual low temperatures, both pleasure and match anglers who fish it regularly are taking good catches and specimen fish. Top of this month's list, so far, is a superb pike weighing…
